Bangkok is awash with bars open from noon until late. The choice of watering holes is immense and over the last few years the trend has moved to creating roof top outlets with spectacular views to boot.
The city is however dotted with British style pubs where the expats tend to rub shoulders with the tourists keen for a cool beer and to catch the live football or rugby.
Another trend is to take your drink from a roadside Volkswagen Van turned into a funky bar with music. These vans literally set up shop in the Soi’s around the busy tourist areas, and are a great way to have a drink and watch the world go by.
Of course most hotels also are attracting a lot of business, with some of the best rooftop bars overing the HISO society a more exclusive hang out.
Then there are the specialist bars created around a theme where you can sit and listen to Jazz, Rock or Soul while sipping a cider the new in drink or perhaps an exotic cocktail.
For most the dress code is casual, however some of the swankier outlets will require you to wear trousers and even shoes rather than sneakers.
Bar hopping is very much the name of the game, and it has become so popular that you may join one of the regular bar tours organised every week. CHEERS!
